Meet Kellie, M.S., LPC, NCCCounseling that meets you where you are.
I'm a counselor in Mitchell, South Dakota, specializing in anxiety, depression, and life transitions for teens and adults.
Why Thread?
I believe everyone deserves a space to feel genuinely seen, heard, and accepted, and that's what I offer every person who walks through my door.
The philosophy behind Thread Counseling Services resonates deeply with me. Each person’s life is made up of many threads: experiences, relationships, struggles, strengths, and hopes. Whether your story feels tangled, worn, or unfinished, counseling is a space to explore those threads with curiosity and compassion and begin weaving them into something meaningful and whole.
How I work
Come as you are
My approach is laid-back, personable, and client-centered. I work hard to help people feel comfortable and understood, because healing happens best when you can show up as your authentic self.
We move at your pace
I believe counseling should move at a pace that feels right for you. Sometimes that means gentle support and encouragement. Other times it means a meaningful challenge when growth calls for it.
Together, we’ll find the balance that best supports your goals.
My background
-
I earned both my Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees from South Dakota State University (Go Jacks!) and spent eight years working as a college campus counselor before moving into private practice, where I earned my license in counseling. Those years taught me how much it matters to create a space where people feel genuinely seen, heard, and accepted.
M.S., LPC, NCC
-
I hold several credentials that reflect both my training and my commitment to this work. As a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), National Certified Counselor (NCC), and Licensed Professional Counselor - Mental Health Supervisee, I’m held to high standards of ethics and ongoing education. I see learning as part of the job, and I stay curious about new ways to support the people I work with.

Inside the office, my goal is for you to feel less like you are in a clinical setting and more like you can finally exhale.
The space is warm, comfortable, and private, somewhere you can settle in and be yourself. Sessions are relaxed and led by you, with no pressure to have the right words or to share more than you are ready to.
You will also usually be greeted by Teddy, my therapy dog, who has a knack for putting people at ease and often settles in nearby while we talk.
-
Outside the office, I’m a busy wife and mom who spends much of my time chasing after my kids and enjoying the beautiful chaos of family life. In my downtime I enjoy being outside, going for walks, cleaning and organizing (I know, I am who I am!), reading, and listening to podcasts.
